Kondwani Ali Patterson stands as a man whose life has been shaped by the decisions he made, the paths he chose, and the circumstances he overcame. Born into a family where hard work and survival were the primary focus, Kondwani’s journey is one marked by the resilience of his parents and the perseverance of his grandparents, who did not complete elementary school.
The pressures of survival often overshadowed the presence of role models who could guide him down a well-trodden path. For Kondwani, such paths did not exist; instead, he became a trail maker, forging a way where none had been laid before.

Despite possessing the physical talent and mental acuity to pursue careers in the NFL, NBA, or Major League Baseball, Kondwani was drawn to the fast life—a life filled with quick money, fleeting pleasures, and superficial gains. He chose a path that led him away from his potential, distracted by the allure of things that ultimately held no true value. But in the face of these choices, Kondwani found within himself the strength to rebound. He transformed into an upstanding citizen, serving his country as a Gulf War veteran.
His resilience didn't end there. Kondwani seized opportunities to fulfill his athletic dreams, trying out for and making a Division I football team at East Tennessee State University. He also played basketball at Southwest Virginia College and even had the chance to compete at UNC Chapel Hill against junior colleges from around the world. These experiences, combined with his travels to 19 countries and nearly as many states, expanded his understanding of the world and deepened his commitment to making a difference.
Each One Teach 1 Inc.
Driven by a desire to give back, Kondwani founded Each One Teach 1 Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to building parks, mentoring youth, and assisting adults with crucial life skills such as financial literacy and credit management. His work in the community is a testament to his belief that true greatness is not defined by a single decision but by the continuous effort to rise to the highest level in every endeavor.

It gave him a new perspective on freedom—finding it through nutrition, fitness, travel, and a commitment to humanitarianism. Yet, his journey has not been without pain. Differences with his son have left a void in his life, a void that can never be fully filled. This experience has deepened his understanding of the value of fatherhood and the complexities of dealing with absence after a long and arduous journey.
Amidst sickness in the family, Kondwani strives to master the balance between stillness and action. He has learned to navigate the nuances of friendship, fellowship, and the toxicity that can weigh us down like ankle weights. Through all of this, he remains committed to self-advancement, mental stability, peace, and happiness.
